A peaceful venue for your retreats & workshops
Our little retreat centre is in the stunning Slad Valley in a sloping, long garden surrounded by trees. It’s peaceful and private, with retreats held in our purpose-built eco-friendly buildings.
We’re located in the lovely Cotswolds with nature walks and woods nearby, whilst being in a residential area within walking distance to Stroud town centre with great transport connections and amenities.
The style here is simple and rustic, yet all the spaces are insulated, warm and comfortable.
Communal Retreat Spaces
Our roundhouse is an octagonal wooden building, a lovely structure that holds up to 10-12 people. This is the main group space, which is perfect for meditation and sharing circles.
The shape and size of the room gives a very safe and ‘held’ feeling for groups.
The roundhouse is warm and cosy, with a woodburner and lots of cushions and blankets. There is electric power to this building, so light and heating are no problem.
For exercises that need more space or for movement work, we recommend either using space in the garden or using the conservatory and living room as breakout areas.
You and your group will have access to our open-plan kitchen and living room. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to support your catering. There’s a dishwasher, electric oven, gas hobs and all the kitchen gadgets you need from a high-speed blender to a food processor or bread machine
There’s a wooden banquet table where you can sit around 10 people, a wood burning stove and two comfy sofas. This area is of course great for food preparation and shared meals, and it’s also useful as a break out space for group work.
The conservatory lounge is a light and airy space where you can relax, have tea and coffee or shared meals. It’s fully equipped for breaks and breakfasts and gives you an additional dining table for meal times when you’re using the kitchen and living room.
The conservatory is a beautiful spot for relaxing and reflecting, and it’s also a useful break out space for smaller groups when you’re using the roundhouse.
The garden is our secret hideaway, sloping down 100m from the house all the way down to the Slad Valley. Beside the house there’s a patio with pond and the relaxing sound of the water feature.
The grassy space extends down past the roundhouse and cabins towards the stunning mature trees here and the peaceful valley beyond.
Whilst we do have neighbours and we’re not far from town, it feels secluded and peaceful. If the weather is right you can use the garden for your group exercises or you can gather outside for a fire.
The self-contained pine cabin is just next to the Roundhouse in the garden. It has its own kitchenette and en-suite (composting loo, shower and sink). It’s cosy and insulated and can be set up with a single bed, twin or double. The kitchen has all basic amenities for cooking – hob, fridge, mini oven, sink etc.
The Shepherd’s Hut
The shepherd’s hut is right at the bottom of the garden, surrounded by trees. You’re quite a distance from the house and from neighbours’ houses, so it has a particularly secluded feel to it.
The shepherd’s hut is cosy with a king-size bed, and can also be set up with twin beds. There’s a little wood burner as well as electric power and an electric heater if needed.
Small Shepherds Hut
The small shepherds hut is a cute sleeping space in a spacious setting further down the garden from the main cabin and roundhouse. It’s an insulated, cosy hut with a single bed. There’s electric power and a heater.
Little Cabin 1
This little cabin is just down from the Roundhouse. It’s an insulated, cosy space with a single bed. There’s electric power and a heater.
Little Cabin 2
This little cabin is the closest to the house and the shower room, just beside the pond. It’s an insulated, cosy space with a single bed. There’s electric power and a heater.
